Memories on a wall

It’s been a good and long summer. We needed it. Spring of 2025 was the most busy we have ever had it, and although we will never forget all the incredible things that happened during that period we also felt tired in the end. We needed a good long break.

Now we are back, and it feels great. Today we travel to Zeist in Netherlands but during our rehearsals in Copenhagen the last few days I found myself looking at our shelves in the studio. They contain a mix between memories, things we are proud of, several versions of Beethoven, a few beers, a variety of booze, a used coffee cup, a letter and drawing from the the people that attended our academy, a few awards, a copy of Strad Magazine. And of course a couple of instruments that somehow ended there. They are missing a few strings, but we thought they looked cozy.

Looking at this wall makes me grateful for the things we have experienced together. It’s been good times. Here‘s to many more <3

Folks, we’re back on the road again and this time we thought we’d show you a little bit of what happens before a concert. In this case we’re in Philadelphia and it’s 10 minutes before we go on stage. Usually everybody is by themselves focusing but this time I went by to disturb them a bit.

And by the way we found something really cool in a corner of our studio… But now on that later. Check out webpage for your dates, we’d love to see you out there!

Welcome to Fiddle Talks! The podcast show about all things violin but also about hygge and friendship is ready to rumble! During this episode Frederik Øland from DSQ and Peter Herresthal talk and share stories about our own beginnings and we struggle with giving our show a name. The show where Scandinavian hygge meets geeks of the classical music world. In our world we live and breath music and during these 20 minutes of down to earth conversation we aim to give you stories from the life of and in music. This is what we love and we hope we can pass some of that passion on. Original music by the one and only Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen. Editing and sound by Søren Johan Krabbe

First of all we just want to say hi to everyone and tell you how happy we are that you are here! We’ll do our very best to make your stay a lovely and memorable one and thus we’ll very soon be sharing some good old throw back content. Because if there’s anything we like it’s goofing around. And we think you should get to enjoy that.

But for now here’s a very serious picture of us looking slightly confused about where the camera is. Only Asbjørn is looking in the right direction, but he doesn’t seem too pleased about it.

Do take a look at our tour dates. If you are an all access member and you want to join us for a show, please write us! We can’t promise comp tickets, but we’ll do everything we can to get you in. And you could pop by after the show and say hi :)

Stay tuned for more behind the curtains content and stay safe until we meet ❤️

Folks, yesterday was the last show on this U.S. tour. Washington D.C. Library of Congress. When we play the bigger venues there’s always a sense that we HAVE to do well in the concert. It’s a strange thing and it makes us overthink things easily. For some reason we sometimes try to reinvent our whole interpretation for these venues when this is in fact the time to lean back and not fuss too much. Anyway we actually ended up having a ton of fun on stage during the concert. It’s always good to be four people together. If one takes off on there’s always three people to ensure the ground connection.
Today we fly to Barcelona and then back home. If any Inner Circle members are in Barcelona, please send us a pm!

See you out there!

Release

The Danish String Quartet, at present the house quartet at both New York's Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society and BBC Radio 3, are taking the plunge as folk musicians with their new album on Denmark’s national record label Dacapo, Wood Works. They’re riding a wave of international success with classical quartet playing in the world’s leading concert halls – from Lincoln Center to Wigmore Hall. The quartet’s video of an old bridal piece from Danish Sønderho has spread like wildfire on YouTube with more than 50,000 viewings. They’re the darlings of the press with classical reviewers, and in February were proclaimed “a hit ensemble” in The New York Times, at the same time filling a whole page under the heading “a hot Danish foursome” in The New Yorker. Here, these four elite classical string players drop the sheet music and play traditional folk from small Nordic villages in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Norway and Sweden. No strangers to standard classical repertoire, the Quartet debuted on Dacapo with a prizewinning CD of string quartets by Carl Nielsen.
